God's World News as a news magazine. This year, Alex had been using
Scholastic News. We might continue with it, but I was wondering what other news magazines there are for young children. (Alex will be in "4th grade".) So, where do your kids get their news?
Yes, we too receive the God's World News, and love it! It is so nice to know my kids are reading news from a Christian view.
ReplyDeleteAnd to answer your question on my blog...our critter shelf is on our deck which is a covered deck, and the morning sun is all that reaches it for a small amount of time. I find the critters do better when they are at outside shade temperatures, of course direct sunlight for very long would be bad. Plus, keeping it outside keeps the mess out of my house! lol

During the school year, GB and I like to use the lessons from the New York Times. They have a kid lesson every day, based on what is current in the news. Sometimes it's a little over his head but it's fairly easy to adapt.

I don't have a good answer for this, so I'm looking forward to everyone's answers! I used God's World years ago, and liked it, but now most of Spencer's friends go to public school, so now I'm wondering if I might get both GW AND a secular news source and see how they work together (or don't!). I hope you'll share what you come up with!

ReplyDeleteMy kids (11 & 15) usually watch the 10:00 news with me every night and have since they were pretty young. We have a world map on our dining room table and usually discuss what's going on while we eat dinner. Next year, I'm going to pick one National & one World article a week for my 11 yo to research.
