How do I feel about it? Excited! Nervous! Tired!
Our first science experiment of the year |
I'm nervous because this is middle school... and almost high school! I feel like I could really mess things up. But, I know we can do this & do it well!
I'm tired because we started school on Thursday. Both days I was exhausted when it was over! I'm already working on some changes this morning so it won't be so hard. History is NOT working and I'm totally changing it.
Over the next week or so I'll try to share what curriculum we're using. I'm so excited to be returning to this wonderful way of life and this wonderful community!!! I've missed you all!
Hi Dana! So glad you will be able to use our resources for America: The Story of Us. I wanted to make sure you knew about another great resource from The History Channel. They have a "History Classroom" episode airing each Monday morning at 6 a.m./5 a.m. Central and there are companion study guides! You can go to the following link for more information:

Enjoy your year!
Nicole
Also, I will be hosting "Study America Saturday" on my blog each Saturday if you would like to leave a link to any of your history posts in the comments section.
ReplyDeleteI had a little trouble figuring it out, too. Go to this following site for the schedule of episodes:

The shows air on The History Channel on t.v. They are not called History Classroom. It is just all of their American History shows.
Since my kids are 8 and 9, I will record all of them at 5:00 a.m. on Monday mornings and then determine which ones we can use with our current study. If we want to watch it, there is a study guide for each show! That is a huge draw!
Let me know if you still have problems.
Yay! There are some cool classes on Coursera. My 6th grader is doing Ancient Greece (I'm taking it too.) I just finished Inquiry based teaching and my 9th grader took 5 classes over the summer and earned 5 certificates (it's not hard to earn them, they are just pretty paper to show that you took the course - but good incentive it seems.)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your travels.
Yeah! I've missed reading your homeschooling posts. Don't worry about high school. You'll do great. There are so many great resources out there. Look up anything from Lee Binz. I wish I'd read her books earlier. She has a lot of practical wisdom which makes the whole thing seem a lot less complicated.
