I finally created my first page on my blog. Well, I guess it is my second page since the blog itself is the main page (titled "Home"). It is called "Our Travels" (right below header) and includes one photo and a link to each of the "big" trips we've been on while homeschooling. (I wish it was more obvious and I'll try to figure out how to make it stand out more. Does anyone have any tips?)
I love this photo from our 2nd trip. (The first trip, to Missouri, is the one where I lost ALL of the photos due to a faulty memory card!) It is from our trip to Colorado in March of 2007, so Alex was about 6.5. She is missing her two front teeth and I think she looks so cute. (And happy!) She was always pushing her tongue through the gap. This trip was taken with my mother-in-law on one of our annual "Girls' Trips." We had an amazing time!
Hi! I'm finally back home and at it again! Alex does look so cute! What a great idea to add a page with links and photos to each of your trips!
ReplyDeleteYou really can't do much to make the page stand out, but I would do two things. One, do a big post tomorrow and copy the whole page so everyone who visits can see it...and it will occasionally come up in your linkwithin.
Then, just trust that whoever visits will check it out. I did a page called Our Story. According to my traffic site service, people read it all the time. And it's just one little tab. So don't worry, it will get read if my experience is any indicator.
It looked really interesting to me!
You can change your font size &/or add a border around the "button" for your page.
ReplyDeleteI've used a lot of the tips on the "Tips for New Bloggers" site, and this post is about horizontal navigation bars (which is really what your pages widget is).
Hope that helps!
Oh, I just love pictures of kids with missing teeth! She is adorable! I use way too many exclamation marks, but you know what I mean.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what to tell you about the 'travel' button, since I don't use blogger. But I'm sure you'll get some good advice.
I really need to catch up on all of the new blogger widgets and things. I have been ignoring my blog. I always enjoy reading about all of the trips that you have taken. Wonderful new page addition!
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem. I had to move my intro to a new page because it is so long. I don't know if anyone will notice it now. I am considering other pages, hoping it will help me consilidate some of my info, while I figure out my sidebars and settle on a template. Today it's scrapbooking. In the meantime, maybe other tabs will help it stand out more? That is what I am considering? But I know what you mean, because I didn't notice it until I raad this. One of my friends who made the switchover with me has actual tabs like file folders so it's obvious. However the rest of the look didn't work for me. Hmmm, unless I add html code. But I have no idea which template she is using because I don't recognize it.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Laurie
