We started back to school today. With our vacation in early December and then being gone 2 weeks for Christmas (though we did take school on the road), it has been a long time since we've had a routine. So, I think it'll take some time to get back into a routine. And, we're changing our routine, too! We now have a regular bed time, waking up time, and starting school time. I'm sure hoping this works!
Besides math and language arts, we are studying the pilgrims and colonists for history right now. We started a History Pockets book about the Colonists today and reviewed a Pilgrims History Pockets book we'd made last year (or 2 years ago?). Since we've studied the Pilgrims before, I think we'll finish this part of our history studies next week.
For art, we are studying Marc Chagall. We discussed I and the Village today and made our own versions of them, but I don't think I'll be sharing those online. :-) Mine sure didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped. On Friday, we'll be going to a traveling exhibit of Marc Chagall's at the Children's Museum of Houston. I've requested some books at the library and hopefully some of them will be in tomorrow.
Next week, we'll start studying Mozart in preparation for seeing a modified, children's version of The Magic Flute.
We've also been studying Amelia Earhart this week and I have to list some great things we've learned and share some great resources. Maybe tomorrow! :-) I'm having trouble getting school planned, etc, and still finding some "me" time so I haven't been blogging much. We did get the Christmas decorations taken down on New Year's Eve & Day, though I still haven't put away our Christmas gifts. And, I've been reading lots of good books this past month (I think around 8!!) and watching the incredible birds in my backyard.
I'll have photos to share from my new camera once I get the software installed! And, I ordered my zoom lens so I can't wait to play with that new Christmas toy!
My Alma Mater has a fairly new collection of Amelia's things. She worked at Purdue for a while.

Good luck on the new schedule... I'm hoping to get back into the swing of things on Monday. We've been very slack for the last 3 weeks. I want to get very serious about our Colonial Unit, too.
ReplyDeleteWe will start back on Tuesday. We would have started back on Monday, but it is Madison's birthday. We don't do school on our birthdays :).
ReplyDeleteI'll be looking for your new pics!
Wow you have done so much. Is there a way to subscribe to your blog to receive updates as an email. I think it is the RSS feed but couldn't find a way to subscribe.
