We had beautiful views of Alaska on our trip to Japan. I hadn't realized we'd go so far north.
You can see a chunk of ice (iceberg?) in the water near the bottom center of the photo.
In the top left of the photo, you can see Mt McKinley - I believe it is the 2nd peak. Mount McKinley is the highest peak in North America. It was named McKinley in 1896. McKinley was elected president later that year. It sits in Denali National Park and is known to the Athabascan Indians as Denali, "The High One" or "The Great One."
After seeing all of the mountains, the flat area around Anchorage was surprising.
Beautiful frozen rivers near the coast.

Wow! Those are spectacular photos! I love them all, but the swirling, frozen water is my favorite. That is so cool!
Wow, that is cool! Thanks for the prayers for Grace, she might get out tomorrow, which is good. Hubby comes in tonight for 13 days and then back to Iraq, so every day we can spend with him together is good!
Those pictures are Fantastic!!!! Sure is a beautiful place, I wouldn't want to live there (I hate snow) but just so pretty. Thanks for sharing the pictures.
Oh my, these photos are just awesome (to use a very American word!). Really, they are stunning.
And you were just back from Japan - that's so incredible. How relieved you must have been, but how sorely you must be feeling the tragic events.
